Sling TV

Dish Network’s Internet-delivered subscription video service Sling TV is now officially available for $20 per month. The live streaming internet subscription features live streaming from the likes of CNN, ESPN, Disney Channel, HGTV, TBS and TNT.

The Sling TV launch also brings with it a live broadcast of AMC Networks. That partnership includes BBC America, BBC World News, IFC, SundanceTV and WE tv.

“We flipped the switch this morning opening up Sling TV to all consumers, and we’re giving them something they’ve been asking for: AMC,” said Sling TV CEO Roger Lynch in a statement. “Soon Sling TV will deliver hits like The Walking Dead and Mad Men with AMC included in our core package. We found a great partner in AMC Networks with a wide range of popular channels to help us quickly make that a reality.”

For an additional $5 per month Sling TV also offers a “Sports Extra” package that includes ESPNEWS, ESPNU, The SEC Network, Universal Sports, Univision Deportes, beIN Sports and live gameday channels ESPN Buzzer Beater, ESPN Bases Loaded and ESPN Goal Line.

Sling TV will also offer high definition on-demand movies for $4.99 and standard definition movies for $3.99. The Sling TV DVR feature also allows customers to watch aired shows for a period of three days.

You can watch Sling TV on current-generation Roku devices, through Android and iOS apps, and on Windows and Macintosh computers. The company also plans to make available Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick support. Sling TV will also make its way to Google’s Nexus Player, webOS Smart TVs from LG Electronics, and on select Samsung Smart TVs and the Xbox One.

With a free 7 day trial I will personally be giving the Sling TV option a try. I’ve already cut the cord and it will be interesting to see if Dish Network can deliver an enjoyable user experience over the web.
