The Kwikset Kevo platform received an update at CES 2015, unveiling the Kevo Plus. The new device offers a direct online connection to the Kevo app, allowing users to unlock their doors from any location in the world.

The company allows previous Kevo owners to upgrade their system at any time through the MyKevo.com portal. Users will receive a free Bluetooth-enabled gateway that plugs into the user’s router and allows a secure connection between the Kevo lock and a user’s Kevo Plus account. Kevo Plus members receives unlimited and scheduled eKeys which can be distributed to guests via the app.

The Kevo Plus app also serves as an activity monitoring for any access to your home or business.

In the future Kwikset plans to upgrade the Kevo Plus to include  Event Scheduling to allow users to plan Kevo’s locking or unlocking at predetermined periods and Lock Grouping to let users group multiple Kevo locks and send one eKey for all of them at the same time.

Kwikset has also partnered with the Nest Learning Thermostat to allow customers of both devices to set Nest to Home and Away modes through the Kevo app. When users lock their home, the Kevo app will ask them if they would like to set Nest to an energy-saving Away mode, which can be customized to fit their personal preferences in the Nest itself. When the home is unlocked, the Kevo Plus app will ask users if they want to adjust the thermostat to their preferred temperature.
