Google has announced that its latest round of 2013 updates have dropped.

The updates were focused on enhancements to the Google Analytics platform itself, not just to their algorithms as with past updates.

This latest round of new updates are intended to fix more cosmetic issues and will not significantly impact seasoned users. Google is continuing to try and make the interfaces and the dashboard more efficient for those of us who work with Analytics every day.

The core tools are still readily available.

Old Dashboard Look

For example, the home button links have been changed.

Previously, the old dashboard home button would take you to the real-time, dashboard and intelligence reports.

Now the home button takes you back to the Admin Accounts page.

Additionally, the global account drop down has been widened. This is more user-friendly because accounts with long names were previously cut off.

The “Custom Reporting” tab was renamed “Customization” but otherwise performs the same as it did previously. Google made it very easy to go back to recently viewed profiles. Before the update, Analytics navigation had no direct way of performing this task.

Side Navigation

The presentation of the side navigation section has been modified a bit. Below is a side-by-side of the side navigation old and new bars. The “My Stuff” section was added. This section is now reorganized to include a section of “My Stuff” and “Standard Reports,” this will allow for a more user friendly section.

Google really pushed the “Help Section” and “Advertising” sections before the update.

The “Real-Time” subheading has been pushed live from beta and is now in the top navigation under the Standard Reports.

The “My Stuff” section has everything the old “Home” button had on the previous dashboard version.

“Advertising”  is now located under the audience tab.

New Dashboard Design

Below is a snapshot of the new dashboard, we are impressed with its presentation and fresh look. There are also tools available to allow users to customize the dashboard to enhance your working experience.

New Widget Options

The best part of the dashboard update is the two new widget options of a GEOMAP and a Bar graph.

This allows the graph to look more 3D and colorful!
