Will the Xbox One Be Your Overly Attached Girlfriend? [Infographic]
Eight years after launching the Xbox 360, Microsoft announced the arrival of its awaited successor. Of course, everybody got excited about the new console, talking about future characteristics and dreaming about every new possibility and amazing game. It was like having a blind date set with a great girl you met online… Until that girl becomes an overly attached girlfriend, just like the Xbox One. Like an interesting but also clingy girl, the Xbox One will have remarkable games with high definition graphics, but “she” will follow every move you make and, literally, every breath you take. The infrared technology and the new Kinect will always be there for you, tracking and recording your movements and body language, so the Xbox One will always know what you are doing.
Besides, Microsoft wanted to impose other rules like regular Internet connection to validate your account at Xbox Live or unthinkable restrictions on digital rights management. But the company had to back out, so the shaken romance between the new Xbox and the players could go on. This means that the console, which will be released at the end of this year, will still not be compatible with games from Xbox 360, but will accept used games.
Also, Microsoft abandoned the idea of a “lock” that would stop people from sharing or selling their used games. Now, the console will not need to always be connected to the internet or perform an online check every 24 hours. The online connection the Xbox One will be used only once to configure the console for the first time. And the games will function like they always did: without requiring an internet connection. So, it looks like the overly attached girlfriend yielded a little to make its boyfriend happy… Find out more in our new infographic!
