Everyone is different in their own way. Some people are more outgoing than others, and then there are those who prefer a hot bath and a book over socializing. These different characteristics have been studied and broken down into 16 major personality types.

Personality types (to a certain extent) govern the way we live our lives, whether we know it or not. They have an influence in our careers, social lives, and even our private lives. The research and science behind forming these groups involves detailed analyzation of human thoughts and feelings.

When it comes to employment and personality types, the ISFP (Introvert,Sensing, Feeling, Perceiving) group has the highest unemployment rate. These are people whose ideal job would be a jeweler. Interestingly enough, there aren’t many jobs in that niche in today’s market. The ENTJ (Extrovert, Intuition, Thinking, Judging) group has the lowest unemployment rate. Their ideal job is one in high demand; the physician.

Some celebrities have been identified by their traits and personality types. Popular introverts include Harrison Ford, Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, Anthony Hopkins and Warren Buffet. Notable extroverts include Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks, Bill Gates, Prince William, and Michelle Obama.

Knowing your personality type makes it easier to select the right career path in college, and if you’re lucky enough to have this knowledge early in life, you could use it to shape your career path starting in high school.

The science behind these studies are real, and many businesses rely on the results to hire and place their candidates in the best suitable positions. In fact 80 percent of Fortune 500 companies use a form of psychometric personality testing to place new candidates in their key openings.

The study of human behavior and feelings is one that’s ever changing, as we discover more about ourselves, and the way we think and feel.
