LinkedIn doesn’t just want to help you find a job – now it wants to help you communicate with your coworkers and managers once you land there.

Like Facebook, which today rolled out Facebook at Work, LinkedIn is working on a new app that will allow employees to join intraoffice interest groups, as well as receive and share tailored content, Recode reports. Unlike Facebook, LinkedIn’s new app will reportedly not include a chat service.

There will be an analytics component as well, with employers being able to see what content is being engaged with the most – a move that makes sense given the push for original content on the site, especially by LinkedIn Influencers.

LinkedIn is also readying a suite of other features to facilitate communication within companies. The first tool that will be available in a few weeks’ time – though only on a pilot program basis – will let colleagues send InMail messages to one another even if they aren’t connections.  Another product that will help widely share employee contact info (to build a comprehensive employee database) is also on the horizon, according to the report.
