BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's tourism agency says the number of hotel and motel rooms in the state is increasing, especially in the oil patch.

Tourism Director Sara Otte Coleman says there are 322 hotels and motels in the state. She says 37 new facilities have been built since 2010 and that's added about 2,300 rooms.

Coleman says 35 hotels are planned or under construction, which will add about 3,000 rooms. She says that will bring the total number of rooms in the state to about 20,000.

Coleman says some 70 percent of the new hotels and motels are in the oil-producing region of western North Dakota.
