Verizon Small Business Essentials launch aligns YSB with Verizon Business

Still all about helping business owners succeed, now with a brand known for technology and SMB services

I’m excited to announce that today Yahoo Small Business, a division of Verizon Business, makes the transition to our new brand — Verizon Small Business Essentials. You will now see this new brand on our website, in social media, in customer  and partner communications, and across the internet.

While this is a new beginning for the Verizon Small Business Essentials brand, it’s a continuation of the legacy that began more than 23 years ago when YSB was started and launched one of the internet’s first eCommerce platforms — what became known as Yahoo Stores. That offering was soon followed by the acquisition of GeoCities, allowing us to offer web hosting to businesses looking to join the Dotcom frenzy. Our product offerings grew alongside our millions of small business customers, and expanded to include business email, hosting, eCommerce, digital payment processing, business directory listings management, and domain registration.

Most recently, we launched Business Maker — introducing a custom guided journey experience for small business owners taking their first steps to create a digital presence. And earlier this year we played a lead role in key Verizon initiatives for small businesses, including the recently launched Verizon Small Business Digital Ready program. Through Verizon’s social commitment to helping small businesses succeed through education and mentorship, small business owners can take advantage of learning modules, expert coaching, peer networking and more through the free Verizon Small Business Digital Ready online curriculum.

So, while our name is changing, our mission and commitment to customers is not. We are more focused than ever on helping small businesses succeed, especially as we all continue to navigate today’s dynamic business landscape.

As part of Verizon Small Business Essentials, my team and I look forward to empowering business owners to launch and scale their ideas online. Today marks the first day of the next 23 years of helping SMBs reach new customers and realize their own dreams of building a memorable brand and running a successful business.
